What is the protocol when it comes to your social media profile after a breakup?
One woman has said that you need to "soft launch your breakup" and she's shared the steps on how to go about it.
Soft Launching A Breakup
You might be familiar with people soft launching a relationship and how they gradually introduce their new partner on social media.
A woman named Syd decided that she would tell us how we can soft launch our relationship breakup.
When To Do It?
Should you soft launch your breakup while you're still in a relationship that you know is going to end?
Syd was not going to say one way or the other and told us to use our best judgment.
Step 1: Change Your Profile Picture
The first thing Syd says to do is change your profile picture.
Even if the picture was already only of you, she says to make yourself look cute and update the picture.
Step 2: Change Your Social Media Presence
Then she says you need to change your presence on social media.
If you are not active, start posting things to your story. If you are usually very active, maybe take a break. This will show people there has been a change in your life.
Step 3: Plan A Weekend Getaway
Next, Syd says you need to plan a trip or a weekend getaway.
This will get you out of the house and also give you something to look forward to. She says to be sure to post a cute picture from the trip.
Step 4: Delete The Pictures Of Your Ex
Next, Syd says to delete the pictures of your ex.
Since you've changed up your social media presence and have more people coming to your profile now, this will have them confused. They will be wondering if you have broken up.
Step 5: Post A Fire Selfie
Now that all of the pictures of your ex are gone, Syd says to post a fire selfie on your story.
She says it should be one of you looking super cute and maybe even showing a little cleavage if that's something you're comfortable with.
Step 6: Live Your Life
The final step is to just go on living your new normal life.
Syd says to message the guy that used to flirt with you a couple of years ago, get some new hobbies, and reconnect with some old friends. This is how she says to soft launch a breakup!
