If you've ever been in the dating world, there's a pretty good chance that you've had at least one bad date in your life that you wish you could've ended sooner.
Someone on Reddit posed the question, "You got 10 seconds to ruin a first date, how do you do it?" and now we've got 20 new ways to get out of any future bad dates. You're probably not going to come out of it looking very good depending on what excuse you use, but you won't have to see that person ever again so who cares?
Play Up Their Fear
This one will work especially well if you met online, because everyone who goes on a date with someone they met on Tinder or Bumble always has the fear in the back of their head that their date is going to be a murderer.
Remember: It's Not A Pyramid Scheme, It's An Investment
If you're not looking to completely ruin their self-esteem, you probably don't even need to mention that you're not attracted to them. Chances are, the second you mention your MLM, they'll be ready to leave.
The Choice Is Yours
You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you should never ever pick your friend's nose. And you should never ever pick your date's nose, or pick your nose on a date. You'll be in the clear for sure after this move.
You Could Go Full Dexter
If they don't seem completely terrified of you after your comment about their liver, another option is to ask them if they're a smoker and then relay that information into your phone as well. Really emphasize your interest in their organs.
They Also Might Call The Police, Though
You could say something like this if you want to absolutely creep them out, but you also run the risk of them reporting you to the police...so maybe don't go with this one unless it's absolutely necessary.
Pretend You're A Spoiled Rich Bish
No matter what their reaction is, this one is going to work in your favor. Either they leave you because they think you're a spoiled brat, or they don't leave and then you can call them a gold digger and storm away.
Blatant Sexism Works Too
If you're really desperate to get out of a date and you don't care what the person thinks of you afterward, you could go always go for blatant, offensive sexism. She'll almost definitely leave if you tell her women need to "know their place," but she also may throw a drink at you.
Wedding Band Woahs
The problem with this one is you have to find yourself a believable wedding band, not that the person will likely be looking at you or the ring for long enough to realize you bought it off of Amazon for $10.
Double-Booking Never Goes Over Well For The First Date
Make it seem like you're doing them a favor by going out with them, and we're pretty sure they're not going to be saying "we should do this again" at the end of the night.
This One Might Require Laying It On Thick
Telling someone that they'd make a great step-parent to your children (even if they're nonexistent) is a major red flag, but you might have to double-down on tactics and drop a few more comments in order to make them actually get up and leave the date.
You Could Say Your Apartment Has Bed Bugs Or Cockroaches Too
Hygiene is one of those things that everyone can collectively agree is important, so if you need a way to turn someone off quickly, make it seem like you have no hygiene standards.
When In Doubt, Go The Conspiracy Route
Touching on conspiracies on a first date can be a great way to weed out the crazies, or a great way to pretend that you are the crazy one in order to get out of a bad dinner date.
Tell Them You Love Them And They'll Go Running
A classic move if you're looking to make someone wildly uncomfortable to the point that they cut the date short is to profess your undying love on them within two minutes of meeting them.
Tell Them You Don't Believe In Gravity, Either
You tried the conspiracy route, but it turns out they're a real flat-Earther, so now you need something else. Take any widely-agreed-upon statement and tell them you disagree with it and see what they say.
The Wife Always Gets Final Approval
Unless they've specifically said they were okay with it (which seems unlikely), if you tell someone your wife is on her way to meet you, they're probably going to leave before they ever have to run into your imaginary spouse.
Combine This With The Fact That Your Kids Need A New Parent
Quite frankly, if you cut someone off the first time you meet them and then yell anything loudly, chances are they aren't going to be thrilled with you and might reconsider spending time with you.
Hit 'Em Where It Hurts
We're not encouraging you to completely shatter a person's self-esteem or emotionally scar someone for life, but there are some Reddit users who suggested you could do that if you had no other options.
Aren't We Supposed to Hide Our Flaws Until After The Wedding?
A lot of people have certain qualities or things that they're attracted to, but usually, they don't put them on the table on the first date, which is why this is the perfect move if you want to scare someone away quickly.
Insult Their Time And They Won't Want To Spend Any More With You
Ah yes, nothing like a plain old insult to get your date up in arms. If someone said that to us, we'd probably end up saying we weren't feeling well and we'd cut the date short, so hopefully whoever you say this to will do the same thing.
You'll Have To Try A Little Harder Than This
One Reddit user couldn't help but go with the self-deprecation route. While we don't know this person, it's probably going to take more than just showing up to completely ruin your first date.
