Woman’s ‘Marriage Rules’ Divide The Internet

Any happy couple has a list of dos and don'ts for their relationship. While these rules vary depending on the couple, people often choose to keep them between themselves, especially if the rules are seen as unorthodox or strict.

But one woman has gone viral on TikTok for sharing the strict marriage rules she and her husband follow, and the backlash was so strong that she had to turn the comments off.

But whether you're married or just in a casual relationship, every couple has their rules for what they should and shouldn't do in a relationship. While some are obvious—such as no cheating—others are more unique to the individual couple, and oftentimes religion can play a role.

It's a common thing for a lot of couples to jokingly have a "work wife" or "work husband," but for Bailey. Not only are she and her husband not allowed to have work husbands/wives, they can't be alone with a member of the opposite sex either.

In response to a TikTok user who replied to Bailey's video and said they agreed with all of their rules, Bailey posted a follow-up video with more "marriage rules." This TikTok also went viral, receiving 1.2 million views.

The first rule is "No lusting after others," in which the couple isn't allowed to follow any "scandalous" pages or people on social media.

Bailey's final rule is perhaps less controversial than the others, writing that couples should "Always put each other first (even over parents)."

While her videos went viral, it's difficult to know just how divisive her marriage rules were because shortly after posting, Bailey turned the comments on both videos off. It's worth noting however that on subsequent videos, users did leave comments regarding her marriage rules, proving that either way, people had strong opinions.
